Alternate costumes
 
 Collect all twenty coins and defeat the Boss in any level. Then at
 the level selection screen, press Start to access a new "Costumes"
 option. 
 
 Alternate backgrounds
 
 Beat the game and save. Then, restart the game to view alternate
 backgrounds after leaving any menu.
